On May 1, 2020, Nix Patterson and Co-Counsel Whitten Burrage filed three lawsuits on behalf of the State of Oklahoma against opioid distributors McKesson, Amerisource Bergen, and Cardinal Health.\u00a0 The firms filed the three separate lawsuits in Bryan County.<\/p>\n

The lawsuits allege the defendants ignored their duties and responsibilities to prevent oversupply and diversion of opioids, and instead, supplied massive and unreasonable amounts of opioids in Oklahoma that significantly contributed to the creation of the State\u2019s opioid crisis.<\/p>\n

In a press conference about the lawsuit, Oklahoma Attorney General, Mike Hunter, who engaged NP and WB as counsel for the State, explained, \u201cBy law, opioid distributors are required to stop suspicious shipments of opioids and report them to law enforcement.\u00a0 These companies ignored their responsibilities because they were making billions of dollars, while Oklahomans, especially those in our rural communities, suffered.\u201d<\/p>\n

The lawsuits seek to hold the distributors accountable for their wrongdoing and role in creating the opioid crisis in the State.<\/p>\n
