NP Secures Federal Circuit Appeal Victory in In re Karpf

NP represented Ronald S. Karpf on appeal of the final decision of the PTAB’s rejection of all pending claims of his patent application. Karpf’s application covered an electronic medical records system that doctors could use to access records, enter diagnoses, and provide treatment instructions. The PTAB relied on a prior patent in finding that all elements of Karpf’s application were anticipated. After argument by NP, the Federal Circuit vacated the PTAB’s decision and found that the PTAB’s analysis lacked substantial evidence.

Now, Karpf will be able to continue his prosecution of his patent application before the PTAB.
