NP Settles Lawsuit for Defective Hotel Design and Construction

In a Dallas hotel, there was a staircase where the first two steps were in front of the doorframe to the stairwell, but there was no guardrail – or any signal at all – that the stairs began before the doorframe. The result was a hazardous, unmarked void in the floor that, in fact, was the top of the stairs. NP represented a woman who fell into that void and suffered horrific injuries. Though the hotel owner attempted to lay the blame at the feet of the hotel’s architect and city inspector, NP achieved a significant, confidential recovery from the hotel on behalf of its client.

NP was able to achieve this confidential settlement for our client through careful investigation, selection of the experts, and tireless pursuit of our client’s rights. Our client was successfully represented by NP partner Neil Smith in our Dallas, Texas office.
